Canned

"That's it Johnson! You know how I feel about viral campaigns involving cuddly pink monsters called Buddy and his pet talking Chihuahua! You're out of here buddy! And don't bother to collect your classic film posters from your cubicle either. I'm burning them in absinthe whilst dancing round an effigy created from your iphone accessories. Masters degree in Marketing? He-Man would kick your ass all the way home pal!"

"He-Man?"

"Masters of the Universe, pal. Get with the programme! Make sure the door hits you on the way out."

Luggage

"Christie contemplated that her sell-boyfriend-to-buy-luggage plan had one fatal flaw."

I was going to save this one for another day but I'm on a massive procrastination kick having spent all last evening building ikea furniture (yawn, stretch out back, nurse broken artistic fingers, blink, head down on desk and snoooore...).

The flat looks great though! Time for more coffee...

The Queuing

A little scribble drawn whilst listening to debate on some recent unemployment reforms. Nothing plithy or conceptual, just a doodle of one of our national pastimes, the queue.

This also feels like a page from a graphic novel. I've been meaning to start work on a "product" for forever and have thumbnails for a picture boot kicking around in my current sketchbook. One thing at a time. Back to work!

But Why?

"But Damien... Why?!"

Doggis Wallpaper

Been a while since I posted a wallpaper so you must be getting pretty tired of the old one...

Ha! I wonder if anyone is using it... apart from all the computers I put it on whilst freelancing around town! Ah, rebellion...

Enough

"Phoebe was just starting to realise that Dirk's weight wasn't quite enough to keep her as upright as yacht club rules required."

Fannie and Freddie

A fun image done to try out my new wacom (cheep one, nothing fancy!) based on this guardian article;

"You might not have heard of them before last week, but Fannie and Freddie are among the oldest couples in American finance. Fannie Mae is the institution set up by Roosevelt to revive the Depression-era housing market (that name is a riff on the old title: Federal National Mortgage Association). Freddie Mac (again, the original name is more prosaic: Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation) was set up after Fannie was privatised in 1968, to provide some competition."

A Case Of The Mondays

"Kent's day went from bad to worse when he realised not only was the giant sparrow wearing exactly the same suit, but that it was better tailored"

Foggy Writing

"Damn it Pete, is that a 7 or a 1?"

Washing Up

Some of you may be suprised to know that I, Reeko, have never owned, possessed or rented an automatic dishwasher in my entire adult life.

Rubbish, huh? I was thinking just the other night about the colossal waste of time this has been. Time perhaps to learn to play the jazz flute, write in mandarin or samba dance perhaps?

"So, why don't you get a dish washer then Mr Reeko, you lazy cheep illustration chimp?"

Well, Firstly there's no room in my 120 year old flat. Unless I put it in the centre of the kitchen. Maybe with a giant vase of flowers on top to disguise it. Maybe with those fake flowers that play guitar and rock out to music. Maybe they could rock with the machine. Sweet. Secondly my landlord is an annoying little...

Come now! Decorum! Especially with the whole interweb watching! What I really need to do is get myself a trained monkey!

Now, where's that copy of Yellow Pages? Let's see! Trained monkeys... T... Hey! Nobody's offering trained Monkeys! At last...!

Fancy A Pint?

Man, the weather in London sucks today. Just the day for indoor drinking then! Unfortunately I'm snowed under with stuff to do... Oh for those student days! I thought lazy daytime drinking was the point of being freelance?!

Oh yeah... paying the rent... that old chestnut...

Spill

Oh man, not again...

Snap shot from my local generic coffee shop this morning. "Hey Ulric, I did it again! I need another caramel macciocotachio triple shot nickabocaccino, and a super double shot skinny truffleberry muffin stat!"

Bandit

Today's warm up sketch. Looks a little like a mexican bandit to me...

Sour

Ladies and gentlemen! Roll up roll up! Get your tickets for world famous Lemon Air! Giant crappy planes that belch out huge plumes of polluting smoke whilst zipping along at less than half the speed of all other airlines!

Relax and let our wonderful award loosing air hostesses trip you up and spit in your face whilst our untrained pilots tip the plane up and down and get lost! No food or drink, just a long lingering bitter taste of being right royally ripped off!

Any takers?

Today's warm up sketch. Happy Friday everyone!

I'll 'Ave You For Breakfast

Yum yum yum! Petite salesman served with pomme frites and seasonal vegetables. They'd lap that one up in the city.

Lookie lookie! Four days in a row! Who says I ain't good to you?

Lunchbreak Fun

Quick little scribble in the lunchbreak.

Tuesday 1 July 2008

Flip Flops

One thing London has in droves is tourists. Come rain or shine there they are, standing just the other side of the tube turnstyle deciding which way to go. Now I'm not complaining about tourists being lost, just their choice of place to stand to figure out which way to go.

Stand at the side!

Ahem. Moving on.

The reason why I'm shouting about this is because my work takes me to all the design agencies which are situated in tourist central, around the west end. Bullying my way through Covent Garden to get to another agency in this weather leaves me pretty hot and bothered.

However, I love doing what this girl is doing. People watching in the busiest, most central location I can find. Awesome. I love seeing people from all nationalities and creeds wandering around shopping and laughing, the big groups of students messing around, the London teenagers with the huge fake watches and thousands of gadgets, and the media kids wearing every latest trend all at once. My favourite game is trying to guess people's nationalities from their clothes and I gain an inordinate amount of pleasure from generally enjoying the vast diversity of the human condition.

Can't wait to get old so I can do it full time!
